UVF DroneSpot

The UVF DroneSpot is a drone-based system developed by BrightSpot Automation to efficiently detect cell cracks, defects, and bill of materials (BoM) variations in installed solar modules. By utilizing drones equipped with UV fluorescence (UVF) imaging technology, the system enables rapid, non-contact inspections of large solar installations.

Features:

  • UV Fluorescence Quenching: The system detects areas of UV fluorescence quenching near cracks, which indicates potential defects in the solar cells.
  • No Need to Disconnect Modules: The system allows for non-contact inspection, meaning modules do not need to be disconnected, making the inspection process quicker and less disruptive.
  • High Throughput: Capable of inspecting over 1,000 modules per hour, making it ideal for large-scale solar installations.
  • Pole-Mount Kit Available: In addition to the drone-based system, a pole-mount kit is also available for use in installations where drones are not practical.

Applications:

  • Field Inspections: Quickly assesses installed solar panels for microcracks, hot spots, and material inconsistencies.
  • Quality Control: Detects defects that may affect panel performance, ensuring high-quality standards.
  • Performance Monitoring: Identifies degradation and failure modes early, enabling predictive maintenance and optimizing solar panel output.
  • Bill of Materials Variation: Detects variations in materials, contributing to long-term panel reliability.
  • High Throughput: Ideal for rapid inspections in large solar arrays, enhancing maintenance efficiency.
